NOAA’s National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) is recruiting three Environmental Scientists to support ongoing Deep Sea Minerals (DSM) initiatives.
Successful candidates will help strengthen NOAA’s ability to manage, analyze, and deliver scientific data products by supporting three critical areas: data governance and curation, cloud architecture, and AI analytics.
These positions come at a pivotal time, as NCCOS anticipates a major influx of new and historical datasets over the next year. This expanding data portfolio will include information from NOAA-owned assets, partner agencies, industry-shared data, and commercial data sources across diverse geographies and marine domains.
Position Focus Areas
- Data governance and curation: Developing systems to ensure scientific data are secure, accurate, well-documented, organized, and useful for analysis.
- Cloud architecture: Supporting scalable systems that integrate computing power, storage, and networking for data-intensive environmental science.
- AI analytics: Applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to synthesize large volumes of data and produce actionable scientific products.
