NCAS-M will pursue collaborative and interdisciplinary research to support the WRN/IDSS objectives on improving forecast advice and interpretative services that NWS provides to help core partners, such as emergency personnel and public safety officials make decisions when weather, water, and climate impact the lives and livelihoods of the American people. NCAS-M Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (SBE) research will be directed at supporting NOAA to assess and develop relationships with key decision-makers of vulnerable communities to advance emergency response decision-making, improve the public’s understanding of severe weather and climate risk, and facilitate partnerships for citizen science opportunities.
